Julie Benz: Holding Out For a Hero

Should we get ABC some therapy for their obsession with Whedon alumni?  Absolutely not!  In addition to Nathan Fillion in Castle, Amy Acker in Happy Town, Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk in VJulie Benz has been tapped to become a superhero in ABC’s new fantasy drama, No Ordinary Family.  Since Heroes looks as though it may have a very short life left on the shelf, is there room for another drama about people with extraordinary abilities?  Seems as though there just might be!

Alongside Julie Benz is another actor who is no stranger to the superhero genre, and that’s Michael Chiklis, who starred as The Thing in The Fantastic Four movies.   According to THR, Chiklis stars as Jim, a once aspiring artist-turned-police artist who suddenly finds himself developing superpowers. Benz will play Jim’s wife, a gifted scientist who develops superspeed.

How their family develops super powers is probably going to be one of the show’s arcs, as we join them in their discovery and mastering of their abilities.  We’ll let you know if you’ll be seeing Julie Benz in skimpy costumes and flying across the small screen come Fall 2010!

No Ordinary Family was created by Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Eli Stone, Brothers & SIsters).
