Wizard World’s comic con draws big Austin crowd

While it may not be the size of San Diego’s Comic-Con, the “Mini-Me” version produced by Wizard World has been making noise of super-heroic proportions around the country. This weekend, the traveling convention landed in Austin, Texas, bringing with it a cavalcade of pop culture celebs, including the Bionic Man and Woman Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner; original TV Batman and Robin, Adam West and Burt Ward; TV’s Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno; and Buck Rogers Gil Gerard and Colonel Wilma Deering Erin Gray.

For fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the show had a treat: Nicholas Brendon (Xander), Clare Kramer (Glory) and James Leary (Clem) were on hand to sign autographs and chat about their experiences on the Joss Whedon series. Saturday, the trio appeared before a packed audience to take questions on topics as far ranging as their personal high school experiences, which Buffy villains were their favorites, to which TV shows they currently are watching. Whedonverse was on hand to  one-on-one with the actors, and will have more to share from the convention floor.

The convention runs through 5PM Sunday at the Austin Convention Center, 500 East Cesar Chavez Street.

Simon founded the Whedonverse Network in 2010, an expansion of WhedonAge.com He has been involved in fandom since launching SaveAngel.org in February 2004.
