Today the attendees at Comic Con got to see Hart Hanson, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz at the Bones Panel. David was in rare form, totally enjoying an event he has experienced several times before. When he came on stage the crowd went wild! A full transcript of the panel will be available some time next week, but here are the highlights.
Yup, if you follow us on Twitter you heard it first! David actually said he’d love to do an Angel movie. I mean, we all knew that; he’s said it before. But hearing it again six years after the cancellation of the beloved WB series was wonderful to hear. He said to look to the man, Joss Whedon, as to whether there’s a future for the film. Since Joss, David and the other Angel actors have gone in very different directions since 2004, its a near impossibility to make the film now. But it was balm to the ears of all the Angel fans in room that Boreanaz would love to revisit the character. He also mentioned his time playing Angel as a wonderful experience, having the time to build on and explore a character like Angel. He now is able to do that with Agent Seeley Booth on Bones.
Emily expressed her excitement in having her sister, Zooey Deschanel, in the Bones season five episode, “The Goop on the Girl,” in which the younger Deschanel sister played Brennan’s long lost second cousin Margaret Whitesell. Apparently having Zooey on the series has been a goal for Emily and Hart Hansen, and it finally happened! As to whether fans will see Whitesell again remains to be seen, as Zooey has a very busy movie and music career.
Hart Hanson talked about the union, or lack thereof, between Brennan and Booth, saying he felt most of the fans would love seeing the pair together … eventually. He said he had a thousand stories for and about married couples, and said fans would see some of those played out with Angela and Hodges. Quickly abating fan fears that the pair’s marriage would be short lived, Hanson said Angela and Hodges were a terrific couple, and would confront anything thrown at them together. Whew! I was afraid the surprise marriage of season 5 would be torn asunder in season 6! Thank goodness Hart Hanson plans on keeping them together! Their union was hard won and deserved. Hanson was right; they are perfect for each other!
Surprisingly, Hanson was very cagey about season 6, divulging very little about what would happen in the new season. There wasn’t even a film clip teaser, which was unusual. But since we left last season with Brennan going off to study skeletons in Indonesia and Booth re-joining the Army to train snipers, bringing them back to Washington is going to be the main thrust of the premier. Hart did reveal that when the series returns, Angela and Hodges would be living in Paris and having a wonderful time. Between crouching under camouflaged tarps on dusty hilltops and dirty skeletons, at least someone is!
Check out the full transcript of the panel next week along with a WhedonAge surprise!
